If you want to think about what you are riding - and if you talk with non riders - they will ask if it is a " Harley"
Same thing happens when you talk to riders - they assume that if you are in the America's the only kind of desireable motorcycle is a " Harley" or " Hog" or some other descriptive word.
Last week I watched a one hour special on TLC on the creation of the new V-Rod. The show could only be described as an hour long informercial for Harley. With that kind of market success - naturally the image is that all riders only desire one kind of bike - and with our " Half Hogs" we are also in the same thought processes - controlled by media exposure.
I ride a Savage because 40 years ago and a billion miles back I had an Ariel Red Hunter - a 500 cc thumper - when the Savage came along - I knew I would ride one
Having never owned a Harley nor having little desire to own or ride one - I smile to think of all those folks who are disappointed with machines which are expensive - are heavy and which totally capture attention in North America.
For the time being - my Ole Yellar One - LS650 will meet all my riding needs
After all - having two cylinders really isn't necessary is it?
